DRAMMEN, July 29, 2011
L-3 Valmarine announced today that they have signed a contract with Meyer Werft, in Papenburg Germany, for delivery of automation control systems to NCL’s two new next generation Freestyle cruising ships.
Following the successful launch of Norwegian Epic, NCL's largest and most innovative ship to date, Norwegian Cruise Line has reached an agreement with Meyer Werft to build two new next generation Freestyle Cruising ships for delivery in spring 2013 and spring 2014, respectively. Each of the 143,500 gross ton vessels, the largest passenger/cruise ships to be built in Germany, will have approximately 4,000 passenger berths and a rich cabin mix.
For this prestigious project Meyer Werft has selected L-3 Valmarine as the main supplier for the most significant automation systems. The complete scope from L-3 Valmarine consists of
VALMATIC Platinum Integrated Automation System (IAS), Safety Management System (SMS) and Emergency Shutdown System (ESD). All systems are fully integrated via a redundant system network and are based on L-3’s latest technology platform.
In addition to the delivery from L-3 Valmarine, L-3 Marine Systems supplies a NACOS Platinum Integrated Bridge System (IBS) from L-3 SAM Electronics in Hamburg and a Dynamic Positioning System (DP) from L-3 Dynamic Positioning & Control Systems in San Diego.
The total control system package delivery from L-3 Marine Systems is a major breakthrough for L-3 and an important milestone in L-3 Marine Systems business strategy.
