Fjord Line orders fully integrated IBS and IAS to new cruise ferries

L-3 Valmarine has signed a contract with Bergen Group Fosen, to deliver an Integrated Bridge System (IBS) and an Integrated Automation System (IAS) to Fjord Line’s two new cruise ferries. The ships are already under construction and will be delivered in April 2012 and November 2012.
L-3 Valmarine’s scope of supply includes a NAUT-AW compliant NACOS Platinum Integrated Bridge Systems (IBS) and a VALMATIC Platinum Integrated Automation Systems (IAS), controlling Machinery and Power Management. - Both systems are fully integrated via dual redundant system networks and are based on L-3’s latest technology platform.
Fjord Line will with these two new cruise ferries in operation be able to offer daily service on the line between Bergen, Stavanger and Hirtshals.
The ships are equipped with restaurants, cafes, duty-free shops and well-equipped premises for meetings and conferences. The ships are designed by Bergen Group Ship Design and Bergen Group Fosen. Find Falkum Hansen is the architect for the project. He has also been the architect of such Hurtigruten ships Trollfjord and Midnatsol. Fjord Line's new cruise ferries will be equipped with fuel efficient engines and emissions of harmful substances into air and water will be minimal.
The hull of the two cruise ferries to be built at Bergen Group's Polish partner, Stocznia Gdansk. All work with assembly, decoration and finishing of the ships will be taken at Bergen Group Fosen who have solid expertise in the construction of cruise ferries for the international market. The contract with Fjord Line will generate a high level of activity at Bergen Group Fosen until delivery of the last ship in the autumn of 2012.
