L-3 Valmarine has been awarded an order from Patria Aviation Oy to upgrade IAMCS systems for Rauma class Fast Attack Crafts for Finnish Navy.

The vessels were delivered at the beginning of the 1990s and they will now undergo a mid life upgrade program. L-3 Valmarine is upgrading the Integrated Alarm, Monitoring and Control System covering all the main machinery systems for the vessels. The program covers four Rauma Class Fast Attack Crafts and the work will be performed during 2010- 2013. L-3 Valmarine´s branch office in Finland has already started the engineering heading to the first system delivery during the first half of 2011. All four vessels are to achieve operative readiness as of 2014.

L-3 Valmarine is performing the work as a sub-contractor to Patria Aviation. Patria is the prime contractor towards Finnish Navy. Other subcontractors in addition to L-3 Valmarine are among others Saab AB (Combat Management System), Kongsberg Maritime AS (Variable Depth Sonar), Western Shipyard Oy and AB-Marinel Oy (Electrical engineering and outfitting). Patria is a Finnish defence, security and aerospace group owned by the State of Finland and the European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company EADS N.V.

When this program is completed there will be altogether 12 vessels operated by Finnish Navy equipped with IAMCS system delivered by L-3 Valmarine. With this order L-3 Valmarine is setting one more milestone to the already firm and long co-operation with the Finnish Navy.
